In 2007, Mr. Ebaugh formed Nelson S. Ebaugh, P.C. He has tried and won cases in federal court, state court, and arbitration. He is also, however, a scholarly practitioner who has written articles for many law and business publications.
Mr. Ebaugh is a native Houstonian. In 1991, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in economics. Subsequently, he worked on Capitol Hill for a committee in the United States House of Representatives. In 1998, he earned his Juris Doctorate, with honors, from the University of Tulsa College of Law. During his last year of law school, Mr. Ebaugh served as an articles editor for the Tulsa Law Journal.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Ebaugh served as a criminal prosecutor, representing the State of Texas. As a prosecutor, he cut his teeth on trial work and gained valuable experience in the courtroom.
In 2002, Mr. Ebaugh earned his master of law degree in securities and financial regulation from Georgetown University Law Center. While studying at Georgetown, he met his future wife, Grace O’Malley. Like himself, Grace had grown up in Houston. Eager to be with their family and friends, they moved back to Houston upon graduating from Georgetown. Mr. Ebaugh and his wife Grace are the proud parents of two children.
Mr. Ebaugh has written several articles on securities law topics that have been published by various journals throughout Texas. In addition, he has frequently lectured to attorneys and law students on securities law topics. In 2005, 2007, and 2008, Texas Monthly magazine named him a rising star in the legal profession.
